Press Release For Immediate Release – The Wright Family of Crowley, Louisiana Celebrates Golden 100 Year Anniversary of Sol Wright’s Blue Rose Variety of Rice Contact Information – Diane Wright Hoffpauer – (337) 788-1879 – DWrightH@cs.com The Wright family of Crowley, Louisiana has a lot to celebrate on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at the family farm founded in 1890 by Salmon “Sol” Lusk Wright. The farm located approximately 5 miles southwest of Crowley, off of Highway 13 is also the site of the Blue Rose Museum, Salmon’s Antique Car Museum and The The activities will begin at 10 AM with rice cooking demonstrations from the internationally recognized Poor Man’s Rice Cookbook by members of the Wright family in the Agriculture Building. Open house tours of the Blue Rose and Car Museums will be ongoing throughout the day. From 2 until 3 PM, there will be a presentation by The Wright Group which is also celebrating their 50th anniversary in the vitamin, mineral and nutrition business. In 1956, Salmon L. Wright, Jr. formed Wright Laboratory, Inc. to provide rinse resistant grain enrichment for the rice industry. S.L. Wright III joined the company shortly thereafter and continued with cutting edge rice research. The named changed to Wright From 3 until 4 PM, there will be a presentation by Diane Wright Hoffpauer of Light Heart, LLC on cooking food items with rice bran for the celiac sprue diet. Light Heart LLC was formed in 2004 to develop patented technology using rice bran and omega 3 fatty acids for heart and digestive health. Celiac sprue is a condition where individuals have an intolerance for the gluten found in wheat, barley and rye. Rice is one of the grains that does not contain gluten and is used extensively in the diet of these individuals. From 4 PM to 7 PM, there will be a concert at the Ag Building by the nationally recognized band, Smithfield Fair. Now entering its 20th year, Smithfield Fair of Baton Rouge, Louisiana has become recognized as one of the foremost presenters of traditionally-based Scottish music in North America. Playing selectively the cream of Scottish events, their original songs have contributed to the rich heritage of songwriting in both North America and Scotland. Their schedule of performances at festivals, in concerts and at coffeehouses regularly receive worldwide and internet radio airplay. Food and drink provided by local merchants will be available during the concert.
